PAC announces fundraisers for three Senate candidates
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Black Economic Alliance PAC (BEA PAC), a coalition of business leaders and aligned advocates committed to using their collective power and business acumen to support candidates and policies that advance Black economic progress and prosperity, endorsed Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), and Colin Allred (TX) for the United States Senate.
All three candidates have a demonstrated, long-standing commitment to breaking down barriers to Black economic opportunity. The endorsements of Alsobrooks and Blunt Rochester also reflect BEA PAC’s strategic goal of increasing Black women’s representation in the United States Senate. BEA PAC previously endorsed Colin Allred’s 2018, 2020, and 2022 campaigns for the United States House of Representatives.
“BEA PAC is proud to endorse Angela Alsobrooks, Lisa Blunt Rochester, and Colin Allred – candidates who are dedicated to advancing Black work, wages, and wealth and thereby strengthening the entire U.S. economy,” said BEA CEO Samantha Tweedy. “Angela Alsobrooks and Lisa Blunt Rochester will also ensure the continued representation of Black women in the United States Senate and we will work tirelessly between now and election day to ensure their victory.”
BEA PAC and Board members will host fundraisers to support all three endorsed candidates in the coming weeks.
Angela Alsobrooks was elected Prince George’s County Executive in 2018, the first woman to hold the position. She has focused on creating jobs and growing economic opportunity, investing in education and breaking ground on ten new schools, expanding access to health care, mental health and addiction treatment, youth outreach, and making sure people are safe. Before becoming County Executive, Alsobrooks served as the State’s Attorney for Prince George’s County where she handled domestic violence cases.
Lisa Blunt Rochester is the U.S. Representative for Delaware’s at-large congressional district where she has built her career on lowering seniors’ healthcare costs, bringing American manufacturing jobs home, fixing our roads and bridges, and expanding internet service to rural communities. She is also a leading voice on economic and future of work-related issues, advocating for legislation that boosts entrepreneurship, levels the playing field, and helps eliminate the opportunity gap.
Colin Allred is the current U.S. Representative for Texas’ 32nd congressional district, where he has focused on expanding economic opportunities for working families, advocating for affordable healthcare, and supporting veterans. He has been a champion for strengthening public education, ensuring that all children have access to quality schooling, and has worked to improve infrastructure by securing funding for critical transportation projects. Allred is committed to safeguarding voting rights, pushing for reforms that protect and expand access to the ballot for all Americans.
“I am honored to receive the Black Economic Alliance PAC’s endorsement,” saidLisa Blunt Rochester. “As the foremost organization focused on advancing Black economic prosperity and growing the entire American economy, BEA PAC is a critical voice and I look forward to working closely with them to implement a Black work, wages, and wealth agenda.”
“The Black Economic Alliance PAC is a singular voice advocating for Black economic opportunity,” said Angela Alsobrooks. “I am grateful for their endorsement and for the work they have done to provide concrete policy solutions that will remove barriers to Black economic advancement and benefit all Americans.”
“I am grateful to the Black Economic Alliance PAC for their longstanding support and their partnership in delivering real solutions to create jobs and expand economic opportunity for all,” said Congressman Colin Allred. “Thanks to my community in Texas, I have been able to live my version of the American Dream and am committed to ensuring the ladders of opportunity exist for future generations. When we work together with our business community and leaders we can do big things. BEA’s agenda of work, wages, and wealth for Black Americans is a critical part of making that happen and I look forward to furthering that work in the United States Senate.”
BEA PAC is focused on advancing a Black work, wages, and wealth agenda through a three-prong political strategy in 2024. In addition to ensuring Black women’s representation in the Senate, the PAC’s other goals include electing Vice President Kamala Harris as President and elevating Leader Hakeem Jeffries to the Speakership.
