By Black Economic Alliance PAC |

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 14, 2020) – Today, the Black Economic Alliance PAC (BEA PAC), a nonpartisan group of business leaders that supports candidates who emphasize improved economic conditions for Black people, has endorsed former United States Secretary of Agriculture and former U.S. Congressman from Mississippi, Mike Espy. BEA Executive Director David Clunie released the following statement:

“Mike Espy is committed to uplifting Black businesses and elevating all Mississippians. He understands the critical need to end the systemic inequities that have widened the racial wealth gap and continue to block access to economic opportunity for Black Americans disproportionately. As a U.S. Senator, he will work to deliver the resources and investment needed to drive economic development in communities of color and spur Black entrepreneurship because he understands that a more inclusive economy means everyone does better.

“We support Mike Espy for U.S. Senate because he is a proven leader who will champion the issues that disproportionately impact Black communities and close the economic divide for Black Americans. He supports legislation to increase access to capital and technical assistance for Black small businesses, skills training to transition low-wage workers into the most in-demand jobs, and the expansion of broadband access. Electing qualified, diverse candidates like Mike Espy ensures that the makeup of the U.S. Congress better reflects the diverse perspectives of the people who elect them, and of our country.”
